South Korean developer and publisher Neowiz filed a trademark for "Wonders of O" with the European Union Intellectual Property Office last week, fueling speculation that this could be the official title of the Lies of P sequel. The application, submitted on September 10, covers video game and entertainment software categories and was spotted by fans who closely track the company's filings.
The name choice doesn't look accidental. Lies of P reimagined the story of Pinocchio as a dark soulslike set in a Belle Époque-inspired city, with the original title built around three words centered on the letter P, a direct nod to the wooden puppet. "Wonders of O" follows the exact same pattern, and everything points to the "O" referencing Oz, the world created by L. Frank Baum in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
The strongest clue backing this theory comes from Lies of P's own post-credits scene. Released in 2023, the game closes with a girl in ruby red slippers humming and clicking her heels together, a clear nod to Dorothy Gale. Since then, the player community has speculated that the sequel would move away from Carlo Collodi's tale to dive into the world of Oz.
Neowiz officially confirmed a sequel was in development back in 2023, shortly after the first game's release, but had not revealed concrete details about its name, story, or release date until now. The company's financial reports for the first quarter of 2026 indicated the project, being built on Unreal Engine 5, had already moved past the prototyping phase and into full production.
It's worth noting that Neowiz has not officially confirmed "Wonders of O" as the game's final name — trademark filings are sometimes made simply to secure rights and don't always match the eventual title. Still, the timing is notable: the filing landed just days before Tokyo Game Show 2026, an event where the publisher has historically unveiled news about its lineup.
Lies of P was one of the best-received soulslikes of recent years, praised for putting an original spin on the genre popularized by FromSoftware. An eventual official confirmation of the sequel, complete with a name and first images, is expected to draw significant attention from genre fans worldwide, including the Brazilian and Latin American audience that embraced the original title.
